Communicating the Status of Equipment
is Key to Safe Work at Height

Companies can face a myriad of issues when undertaking work at height. With falls being one of the most common causes of fatal and major injuries to workers, it is imperative that access related equipment be properly maintained and managed to avoid potential accidents and subsequent disruption and cost to business. One solution is to implement Equipment Tagging Systems.

Many businesses recognise the benefits of Equipment Tagging and have adopted them as a solution to aid the equipment identification, inspection, test and maintenance process. As a result, Equipment Tagging is becoming more commonplace and workplace safety is improving.

Equipment Tagging systems communicate a clear message and can help reduce the potential of miscommunication. Equipment Tagging works by attaching a Tag (Holder) onto an item of equipment at the point of use where it is clearly visible to the user. Equipment specific Inserts are used to record information relating to the equipment’s inspection / maintenance check. If the equipment is deemed fit for use the Insert is placed into the Tag Holder. If at any point the equipment fails the inspection / check, the Insert is simply removed to display ‘DO NOT USE’ and prohibition sign on the Tag Holder.

Having this level of communication allows managers and employees to make informed decisions rather than risk making assumptions about the equipment’s status.

There are a wide range of Equipment Tagging Systems available for specific work at height purposes, whether it is for scaffolds, podiums, ladders or fall arrest equipment.

In fact, whatever your equipment – we can tag it
